NightShift Lateral Sleep Positioner
A clinically proven treatment for positional obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and snoring, and a comfortable alternative to CPAP for people whose breathing problems occur mainly when sleeping on their back.
NightShift is a small, lightweight device worn around the neck or chest. When it detects that you have rolled onto your back, it delivers a gentle vibration that slowly increases in intensity until you change position – typically without waking you. Over time, most users learn to avoid back-sleeping altogether.
Why sleeping position matters
Up to 70% of people diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnoea have substantially more severe apnoea when sleeping on their back, and around 20% would have little to no breathing problems if back-sleeping were avoided. For these people, keeping off the back is an effective, drug-free and mask-free therapy.
Clinically proven results
In clinical studies, NightShift users achieved:
- 79% reduction in apnoea-hypopnoea index (AHI)
- 70% reduction in snoring
- Improved sleep efficiency and fewer awakenings per hour
How it works
- Wear NightShift around your neck (strap included) or your chest (chest belt sold separately).
- Switch it on before sleep. You can choose immediate feedback or a 15- or 30-minute grace period so you can fall asleep on your back before therapy begins.
- When you roll onto your back, NightShift vibrates gently, gradually increasing intensity until you change position.
- Each morning, review your night in the NightShift app (iOS and Android) or on the online portal.
Sleep and therapy reporting
NightShift records every night and produces a compliance report you can share with your physician or sleep clinic. The report includes:
- Hours used
- Percentage of time spent on your back (supine)
- Number of supine attempts per night
- Time taken to respond to feedback
- Percentage of time snoring
- Sleep efficiency
- Awakenings per hour.
Who is NightShift suitable for?
NightShift is most effective for people who have been diagnosed with sleep apnoea and whose sleep study shows:
- Supine (on back) AHI at least twice their non-supine AHI, and
- Non-supine AHI below 20 events per hour.
It can also be used alongside CPAP, mandibular advancement splints (MAS) and other sleep therapies to improve results.
NightShift is not recommended for people with tics or tremors of the head, cardiac arrhythmia treated with a pacemaker, current neck, shoulder or back pain, or open cuts or wounds where the device is worn. Keep the device at least 15 cm from implanted medical devices (magnetic field below 0.02 mT). Please consult your physician before starting positional therapy.
